June 1 the artist designing the mural that will grace the north wall of the Sun Theatre will begin work.
Jasmine Young, the mural artist from Omaha, was contracted by the Creative District due to her design submission. The York Creative District wishes to inform the community about a few things concerning this project.
First, a BIG thank you to the Nebraska Arts Council grant and the various York area boards and banks that helped fund the project.
During the process the parking on the south side of 5th street will be blocked off. Local businesses have already been informed, but as you plan your downtown excursions, please be aware there will be less parking spaces available until the project is completed. Also, Jun 5-7 the north sidewalk on 5th will be partitioned so the artist can project the image onto the wall in the evening hours when it’s dark. This could alter your walking approach to some of the businesses.
The Creative District is excited to be bringing this long-term gift to the community.
Thanks for your understanding during the duration of the process.
