The City of York Creative District is pleased to announce the completion of a large mural in the York Creative district.
Jasmine Young was selected as the artist through a competitive selection process by the Creative District.
The mural is on the north wall of Sun Theater in downtown York and celebrates the historic and continued use of the building as a focal point for film as an art form in the community.
An official ribbon cutting is planned for August 13 at 4:30pm.
The mural was made possible through grants from the Nebraska Arts Council, the York Community Foundation, the City of York, Cornerstone Bank, and Henderson State Bank, as well as in-kind donations from 6th Street Bed and Breakfast, the Lion’s Club and T & D Construction, and generous donations of funds, food, and time from members of the community.
Special thanks to the York Creative District Visual Arts Committee, chaired by Annie Redfern and to the York Creative District director, Dr. Clark Roush and the York Creative Advisory Board for their work to bring this new vibrant art to downtown York.
